Helping you celebrate every day colorfully. My mission? To make party-throwing a piece of cake!

This primary bedroom makeover was sponsored by HGTV HOME® by Sherwin-Williams. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Our primary bedroom has been an afterthought the last two and a half years since we moved in. I had the most difficult time figuring out what I wanted the room to look like until recently. I’d start decorating then stop because I wasn’t feeling it or it didn’t give the calming vibe you want in a bedroom. Then it became a large catch-all for things that didn’t have a home around the house – scroll down to see the before photos to see what I mean!
Last month HGTV HOME® by Sherwin- Williams released their 2022 Color Collection of the Year and as soon as I saw Retreat (HGSW 3238), I fell in love with the color! It’s the perfect shade of green. It’s not too dark or too intense and has a sophisticated calming feel. I knew the color would set the tone for the rest of the space.
The trim was already painted Alabaster (along with 95% of our house!) so I knew Retreat would compliment it nicely. If you’re unfamiliar with the HGTV HOME® by Sherwin- Williams Color Collections, each designer-curated collection takes the guesswork out of choosing multiple colors. Over the summer, I used the Color Pizzazz Color Collection to inspire our colorful playroom makeover and I love how well the colors compliment each other! If you have a hard time creating color combinations, using a Color Collection makes it super easy!
I repositioned the bed to the largest wall in the room and it’s amazing how much different it feels in the room now. I swapped our grey headboard for a new blue one and updated the pillows and art to tie in the blues and greens in the headboard and walls. We had the room painted by a professional because the ceilings are so tall and I’m pregnant. There are several options of HGTV HOME® by Sherwin-Williams paints you can use depending on the area but for this project we chose Infinity because of the paint + primer combo and one coat coverage. Plus it’s scrubbable so we can easily clean tiny hand prints off the walls.
What do you think of the primary bedroom makeover? It’s so calming, I swear I sleep better since we made over the room!
