My birthday is on December 25th, and I’ve always been a HUGE fan of the holiday season. I love decorating, hosting dinner parties and making fun festive treats! I’ve attempted several gingerbread houses in my day, but they can be a little tricky to assemble, not to mention time consuming! I’m all for whipping together store-bought ingredients to make a pretty dessert. When I came across this Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® Holiday House recipe, I knew I could definitely recreate it with my own colorful twist!

I picked up all the ingredients for the holiday house recipe with a quick trip to my neighborhood Randall’s. We’re lucky enough to have a Randall’s only a couple minutes from my house, so it’s super convenient for projects like this or picking up ingredients for a last-minute dinner party. The layout of a grocery store is oddly important to me, and Randall’s is so easy to shop at. The cookie aisle is near the baking aisle, so I was in and out really quick. I never understood how important efficiency while shopping was until becoming a mom!
Here is the link to the original recipe, and I’ve included the steps below on how to make my version of Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® Holiday House!
This recipe calls for packaged Rice Krispies Treats as the structure of the house, making it a breeze to put together! I swapped out the typical red and green holiday colors for a more colorful palette. I love how it turned out! I wasn’t able to find a couple of the ingredients in the original recipe, so I substituted them for other Kellogg’s® and Keebler® products. This recipe is sure to help Make the Season Merrier!
• 16 Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® Original bars
• 1 can (16 oz.) creamy vanilla frosting
• Keebler® Vienna Fingers® cookies
• Keebler® Strawberry Wafers
• Assorted candies (colorful peppermint sticks, regular marshmallows, brought gummy candies, colorful dots, green gum balls, sprinkles in the colors of your choice, clear sugar sprinkles to look like snow)
• Powdered sugar
For house front and back, stack two of the Rice Krispies Treats® Original bars on top of each other on the serving surface, long sides together. Lightly press them together until the seams are gone.
For roof supports, diagonally cut two bars in half, making four triangles. To make roof support on top of house front, place two triangles, long sides together, back to back on house front. Repeat with remaining two triangles on house back.
For house sides, stack four bars on each side of house front and back. Lightly press all bars together.
To reinforce roof, use frosting to attach one Keebler® Grahams Original rectangular cracker sheet along each side of house to roof supports. For roof, break one rectangular piece off of 4 of the grahams rectangular cracker sheets (save 1 piece for door awning and save remaining for another use). Use frosting to attach the remaining portions of the 4 rectangular cracker sheets to the roof reinforcement pieces.
For door, attach 1 Rice Krispies Treats® Original bar to one end of house on top of the cracker steps. Then, cut one end off of a Keebler® Vienna Fingers® cookie and attach the remaining cookie portion with frosting to the Rice Krispies Treats® Original bar. For door awning, use frosting to attach the reserved rectangle of cracker sheet to house above door.
Separate one of the layers of the strawberry wafer to use as the sidewalk, cut five squares of wafers to use as the windows on the door and side of the house.
For chimney, cut a Keebler® Strawberry Wafer cookie in half then cut the corner off of one side. Attach to roof with frosting.
Use frosting, additional cookies and candies to decorate house (if desired). Sprinkle powder sugar around house for snow (if desired).
