Thank you Scotties Facial Tissues for partnering with me on this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is our first holiday season in our house and to say I’m excited is an understatement! The open layout of the living room and kitchen is perfect for hosting and I fully intend to take every opportunity to fill our home with friends and family.
Between hosting Thanksgiving, Piper’s second birthday, a favorite things party I’m hosting for my friends and brunch on Christmas morning with our family, the next six weeks are going to be jam-packed! I decided to go against my usual tradition of waiting until after we eat turkey to deck the halls and to be honest, I’m glad I did. Now that the house is decorated, I can focus on Christmas traditions, shop for gifts, and prep for entertaining this holiday season!
I’m sharing a few tips to help you mix style and function when decorating!
Stay consistent with the existing color scheme of the space when it comes to adding in holiday decor. We have a lot of blues, greens and a hint of blush in our living room so I decided to play up those colors.
I always like for there to be a mix of style and function. The Scotties’ Facial Tissues boxes designed by Genevieve Gorder are stylish on the shelf without sticking out. This time of year brings a lot of sniffles and running noses around our house so I want tissues to be within arms reach. Genevieve, who you might recognize from HGTV’s Trading Spaces and Netflix’s Stay Here, designed eight seasonal themes like cozy knits, birch wood and pops of gold to make these boxes a stylish yet functional addition to holiday décor. Plus, the designs are neutral enough to keep out all winter long!
To keep with the functionality of things, I have a decorative box on the shelf with some matches, a wick trimmer for candles and we keep our remotes in there when they aren’t in use.
Add bows to topiaries or plants, place loose ornaments in a shallow bowl and switch out framed photos to past holiday pictures.
