A few weeks ago my sister and I took our kiddos for a fun staycation at The Woodlands Resort. The whole weekend was so relaxing and family friendly. It’s the perfect distance from Houston so you feel like you’re going somewhere but you don’t have to spend hours in the car getting there. Now that summer is officially here, it’s the perfect time to make a weekend trip out of it. They have some great deals going on, too!
From the lazy river to the poolside cabanas, we were blown away by the amenities and service. If you have young kiddos who still nap during the day, I highly recommend requesting a pool front room. It was so nice to be able to let Piper nap in the room while I sat on the porch so I didn’t have to worry about sitting quiet in the dark for an hour.
We ate the majority of our meals by the pool. My niece and nephew are 9 and 13 so they were able to swim and make friends then come back for lunch or a snack. The cabana was ideal for Piper, too! It was so nice to have an area away from the sun and some privacy to change her diaper, clothes, etc when I didn’t want to head back to the room.
On Sunday morning when everyone woke up we headed to the breakfast buffet. The spread was seriously impressive! There were so many options from chef made omelets, waffles and pancakes to a fresh fruit and yogurt bar. I’m typically not a breakfast eater but I couldn’t resist a fresh omelet and a stack of pancakes I shared with Piper! After breakfast, we went back to the pool to relax for the rest of the day. My nephew, Peyton loves to play golf so he went to hit golf balls while Piper and I played in the splash pad area, drew with sidewalk chalk and ate ice cream. We were for sure living our best lives and highly recommend heading there for a fun staycation this summer!
