Helping you celebrate every day colorfully. My mission? To make party-throwing a piece of cake!

It might seem crazy but I never thought about a summer bucket list until having Piper. I know she’s still so young but I’m having so much fun experiencing new things with her! Earlier this summer we became pool owners (ha!) and she absolutely loves spending time outside. The heat is pretty brutal right now but we added a couple fans in our screened porch and in the evenings it’s really nice.
We have a supper club with our group of friends and alternate hosting at each other’s houses. Many of our friends have young babies and toddlers, so it’s much easier to stay home and let the kids run around and play while the parents enjoy cocktails and adult conversation.
It’s our turn in a couple weeks and I wanted to come up with a fun idea for everyone. I’ve been dying to have an outdoor movie night on the porch since our renovation and this seems like the perfect time! I put up a white sheet on one side and set out some chairs, pillows and blankets for everyone to get comfortable.
I kept the food simple with boxes of popcorn, mini burgers, ice cream sandwiches and sheet pan nachos. I’m all about throwing together some store bought items and making them adorable.
This movie night is no exception! Everything was easy to make but the presentation is fun and festive. To stay on theme of keeping it easy but cute, this make ahead frozen watermelon mojito might be my new favorite summer drink. I’ve included the recipe below!
Serves 8
Watermelon and mint are always my favorite summer time combination! But my favorite part about this cocktail is that you don’t have to use a blender. I love frozen drinks but hate the mess and hassle of using the blender constantly while entertaining. Master of Mixes combines real fruit juice and simple syrup so making tasty cocktails is a breeze!
I put all the ingredients in a deep tupperware container and froze it overnight similar to a granita. When I was ready to serve, I used an ice cream scoop to serve the mixture then garnished with a sprig of fresh mint and watermelon slice!
I hope this inspires you to throw an epic outdoor movie night for your friends or family!
Thank you Master of Mixes for partnering with me on this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Pick a movie that everyone will enjoy. Perhaps it’s an adventure film where the audience has to decide on their own whether or not they are willing to take some action – like Cliffhanger , With Honors , Night at the Museum , Pirates of the Caribbean , or Men in Black .
Or maybe choose a classic comedy that everyone will recognize, like Ghostbusters , Anchorman , The Princess Bride , or Spaceballs . If it’s a family-friendly event, consider one of the many Disney movies, such as Tangled , The Little Mermaid, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast , etc.
Of course, there are so many other options to choose from!
Snacks are always a part of movie night, for either before or after the film. Popcorn is one of the most popular snacks; however, there are many other choices to go along with it. Be sure to include candy and soda among them!
Give everyone in attendance their own bag of popcorn . Then, divide up a bag of candy into smaller Ziploc bags , and write down their names on the outside. Each person can pick out his or her own “prize” before the movie begins!
