Movie Night At Home – Exciting Ideas To Try

We usually watch a movie as a family on Saturday evenings, but with all the time we are spending at home. Lately, we’re watching more movies now than ever. I’m always looking for ways to keep things fun for all of us, especially when Piper chooses the same movie, nine times out of ten!
Bed Bath & Beyond has countless fun kitchen gadgets and accessories to mix things up while staying at home. For our movie night, I put together a snack tray with freshly popped popcorn and all the fixin’s! As soon as I saw the Dash Popcorn Maker I fell in love with the fun color and sleek design. I always love appliances that are pretty enough to leave out on the counter and this definitely fits the bill!
Piper loves to help in the kitchen so she was thrilled when I let her pour the kernels into the popcorn maker. She acted like it was Christmas morning when it starting popping into the bowl! Then I poured melted butter over the popcorn bowl and a sprinkle of sea salt. I’m pleasantly surprised by how much better the fresh popcorn tastes compared to the stuff out of a bag!
I loaded up the Pantone Folding Tray with the popcorn bowl, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter trail mix, and chocolate candies for our movie night. When we were ready to start the movie, I brought the tray to the couch and set it on the stand. I know we’ll get a ton of use out of the tray table in the future plus the mint color matches perfectly with our living room!
We’re doing out best to use this time at home to create new traditions and adding homemade popcorn to our family movie nights is definitely a must! I’m planning to make white cheddar popcorn this week!
Tips For a Fun Movie Date Night at Home
There’s nothing quite like snuggling up on the couch with your loved one to watch a movie. But, sometimes it’s hard to come up with ideas for what to watch. Here are 8 movie night at home ideas to get you started!
- Pick a genre and pick a movie from that genre. Whether you want to watch a high-action movie, romantic comedy, or even an animated family film that features animals talking and singing in English accents – there’s something for everyone.
- Watch one of your favorite movies from childhood. You may find that you’re able to see the movie in a new way now that you’re older! If all else fails, ask your partner what their favorite children’s movie is and watch that.
- Rent a DVD from a Redbox kiosk, or use a streaming service like Netflix to see what movies they have available for instant watching right now.
- Browse the TV guide section of a newspaper or online to find out if anything looks interesting on one of the movie channels.
- Create a themed night – such as all horror movies, or all chick flicks. This is a great way to switch things up if you’ve been watching the same movies over and over again.
- Watch a movie that you’ve seen before, but with a different soundtrack. This can be a lot of fun, especially if you have an eclectic taste in music.
- Watch a movie that you and your partner can take turns narrating. This can be great for comedies and dramas – just make sure you have a lot of snacks on hand!
