The internet has given us so many opportunities. One of these opportunities includes the ability to reach millions of people all over the world. With so much negativity floating around in cyberspace, I believe in using the internet for good. I believe in spreading kindness each and every single day and the internet is such an easy way to carry out kindness.
Spreading positivity through fun and uplighting content is one of the main reasons I do what I do and I think sometimes in the craze of the internet, we forget there are real people behind each Instagram handle.
When I was in Traverse City, Michigan last month on a family vacation I collaborated with Jen, one part of the Wren Photography husband and wife duo, for a fun shoot around downtown. It was a happy accident that I ended up with a couple dozen smiley face balloons but the photos tie perfectly to today’s post!
I’m sharing 5 ways you can spread kindness online that will not cost you anything nor take much of your time. These good deeds can not only make someone else’s entire day, but also have you feeling like a total super hero!
If you notice anyone is going through a difficult season in their life, give them words of encouragement. You may have the perfect words to help change their lives.
There are already too many negative stories floating around online, share positive or even funny stories. Someone may be having a bad day and by reading or watching a sweet story you shared, may bring a smile to their face. You don’t have to air your dirty laundry in order to ‘be real’ online. I choose to share fun moments but also mix in some chaotic ones too. Jus be sure to find some positivity when sharing those moments – think about the silver lining!
When friends mention that they accomplished something or share a special event in their lives, support them with kind words. I promise it will make their day! I know I always love when people reply to Insta stories or comment on posts when I have something exciting to share. Be sure to return the favor and cheer others on, a little goes a long way!
You won’t always agree with everyone’s opinion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be kind. It is possible to have a friendly discussion even when you don’t share the same views.
People take the time to comment on your posts, respond back! Have a genuine conversation and interest in what they have to say. I’ve become really good friends with others that I’ve met online (especially Instagram!) and it all started with a sweet comment!
Kindness is contagious. Let’s spread kindness like wildfire. In which ways have you shown kindness online today?!
