Helping you celebrate every day colorfully. My mission? To make party-throwing a piece of cake!

I’ve known Alice for a few years now and I absolutely love watching her blog and family grow. She has the sweetest little girl, Annie and seeing them together makes me so excited for Piper to get a little older! I always love to support fellow Houston girls so I’m excited to share how Alice entertains at home today! If you love fashion and traveling, be sure to give her a follow!!
We love appetizers in our house so there’s always going to be some sort of hummus and veggies or chips and dip at the ready. I also seem to always have a bottle of wine on standby in case someone comes over for happy hour. My favorite is Cabernet Sauvignon but if it’s a hot summer day in Texas it’s going to be Sauvignon Blanc. If it’s not 5:00 yet, my fridge is never without an assortment of colorful bottles of La Croix!
I am a chip & dip girl through and through. If I was being honest, I’d rather have had a big vat of chips and queso instead of a wedding cake on my wedding day. ha! It’s my weakness! If I know people are coming over and I don’t have a lot of time, I’ll run to the store and buy something pre-made and serve it in my own dishes so maybe it’ll look like I might have actually made it myself. My favorite dips to grab from the store are Palmetto’s Jalapeño Pimento Cheese with Pita Chips and H-E-B’s made from scratch guacamole with tortilla chips!
I’d make all of my favorite dips, appetizers and whatever we may be serving for dinner from scratch. There’s this buffalo chicken dip recipe that I like to whip up for so many different occasions. Thankfully my recipe serves a bunch of people, or I’d be afraid I’d eat the whole bowl myself! I’ll have to share the recipe for y’all in a blog post soon.
I can’t believe I’ve never thought about this question before! I’d have a cup of English Breakfast Tea with Jane Austen. (I’m sure she doesn’t drink coffee and I can’t imagine her with a cocktail ha!) I’ve always loved her novels and she is so inspiring to me – to make a name for herself as a woman centuries ago in a time very different from our own. Plus I’m ridiculously fascinated by the past so I’m sure I’ll have many questions for her in that regard as well.
In addition to my buffalo chicken dip, I love to make my family’s Southern Chutney Cheese Ball Recipe. This is an appetizer that you don’t see everyday so I feel like it always provides that wow factor. Plus it’s SO incredibly easy to make! Mix together a block of cream cheese with a few handfuls of cheddar cheese to make a cheeseball. Top with Major Gray’s Mango Chutney and sprinkle with bacon and chives. Pair it with ritz crackers and voila you now have the most delicious cheesy dish imaginable!
I mostly get my inspiration from various Pinterest images I stumble upon. I could get lost in a sea of Pinterest’s outdoor entertaining pins! But I do love flipping through the pages of Southern Living, Garden and Gun, Martha Stewart Living. After picking up those magazines I always feel convinced that I must throw a dinner party stat!
