Piper’s nursery is by far my favorite project to date and the definition of a labor of love! Between the Otomi wall my mom and I stencil painted and the countless yarn poms and tassels I made passing the time before she arrived, this room was months in the making!
Trent and I both love taking trips down to Mexico and I fell in love with the detail and colors of the Otomi embroidery pieces sold at a lot of the little shops down there. I came across this Otomi inspired pillow from the Cupcakes & Cashmere x Bed Bath & Beyond line this past summer and it inspired the rest of the room. Shortly after I met with the Dazzling Decor team and they found this rug that perfectly matched the pillow and the look I wanted for the room.
Since the rug is a statement on it’s own, I decided to go with neutrals for the rest of the furniture. I fell in love with this simplicity and details of this vintage inspired crib from Buy Buy Baby.
Piper is five weeks old so we’re definitely still in the trenches but my favorite purchase in the room is the reclining glider with USB port. She started sleeping in the nursery a couple weeks ago and it’s working really well for us. When she slept in the bassinet next to the bed I didn’t fully wake up to feed her and ended up not giving her a full feeding.
Now that I go in the nursery to nurse her when she cries it gives me a chance to wake up and I’m doing a better job making sure she’s full, changed, burped before going back to sleep. There has been several nights that I fell asleep in the chair after nursing her and it completely reclines so it feels like a bed! In an effort to limit my time on social media (more on this later!) I’ve started reading books on my phone while I nurse her.
The USB port comes in handy so my phone is always charged. A lot of people recommended reclining gliders for the nursery but I didn’t fully understand until now. I found the chair at a local store but the lead time was the standard 8-10 weeks and I couldn’t wait that long.
Then I found on Amazon for the same price with prime shipping! I’m so glad I was able to sit in the chair before purchasing but I can say it’s extremely comfortable!
I’ve linked all the sources below and will share a post soon on the nursery closet makeover and DIY of the stencil wall!
