Helping you celebrate every day colorfully. My mission? To make party-throwing a piece of cake!

My baby shower is on Sunday so I thought this was a perfect time to share the name of our little girl on the way! I’ve almost said it on Insta stories a hundred times because we’ve been saying it openly to close friends and family for sometime now but I’m so glad to have the secret fully out! Trent and I didn’t talk about names until we knew if we were having a boy or girl so I kept my list to myself and didn’t bring it up. He already thinks I’m impatient with things like this and he might have good reason! I may or may not have texted our PA multiple times to see if the results of our gender test were ready so I could mentally prepare myself. I’m pretty sure I didn’t get any work done that whole week while waiting, ha! It’s safe to say I couldn’t have waited for a gender reveal party or the whole wait until the baby is born to find out. My personality just couldn’t handle it! Sad but true.
After we found out we were having a girl, I tried to play it cool and wait until he brought up names even though I exhausted every baby name website out there. A couple days later he suggested I pick my top five, he’ll do the same and we’ll compare the next day. Well, five minutes later he asked what letters my favorites start with. I started rattling off S, P, E, etc…then he asked if the P name was Piper or PIppa and we immediately realized Piper was at the top of both of our lists. What are the chances?!
It’s definitely not the most common name so it seemed crazy that we were both on the same page with such a huge decision. Trent wanted to sleep on it for a few days but I instantly knew it felt right when I googled up the characteristics of the name Piper and the results were independent, individualistic, ambitious, strong-willed, inventive and successful. What more could you ask for when you’re bringing a little girl into the world?!
Her middle name is after my Grandma Junie. My dad’s parents have spent every Christmas with us since I was born and have always been super involved in my life. I have the best memories visiting them in Dallas and Grandma Junie letting my sister and I eat her homemade lemon pound cake for breakfast and play beauty shop with her hair and makeup for hours. Basically a dream weekend for two little girls! My love for bright lipstick, fun colorful outfits and the need for something sweet after every meal all come from her. She might seem girly when you first meet her but Trent swears she knows more about football than he does (which is saying a lot!) and she can hold her own in any conversation about business or current events. She’s one of my biggest role models and I’m so lucky to pass down all that she’s taught me to my daughter. I can’t wait for Piper June to meet her Great Grandma Junie in a little over two months!
I know this is turning into a novel so I’ll stop there. Scroll down for a peek at our maternity session in Newport Beach last Friday evening with Alissa Noelle Photography! Alissa is also from Houston but has lived in LA for years and I found her through the #lagunabeachphotographer hashtag. People dis hashtags but I’m telling ya, they work! She’s so talented and I know we’ll cherish these photos forever!
