It seems like just yesterday we were ringing in 2017 and now spring is already here! This is my favorite season – I love eating al fresco, the bright flowers blooming and the extra hour of sunlight! Spring is also the perfect time to gather friends and host a casual but color brunch or dinner party. 

This tablescape was part of a shoot in collaboration with some of my favorite Houston creatives (all listed below!) and it screams springtime to me. I’m pretty sure we have every color of the rainbow covered! For the project, I wanted everyone to have fun with color and think outside of the box a little bit. 

I spray painted ceramic tile mats lavender for a modern take on traditional chargers and dyed muslin a pretty peach color for the table runner. My friend Morgan, the talent behind The Foodie Chef used food coloring to make marble waffles for savory waffle sandwiches filled with prosciutto and arugula. I love how they turned out! She also made watermelon, mint, mozzarella and blackberry skewers. The flavor combination was so fresh and we placed them on a himalayan salt block to add a little bit of unexpected flavor and color to the presentation. If you try this at home, wait to put the skewers on the salt block until you’re about to serve. Otherwise they will be too salty!

The florals Phuong with Mibellarosa designed really completed the table. The main arrangement is in a vase shaped to look like a man’s face, I always love unexpected details like this and this vase is a great conversation piece! We hung the three greenery wreaths from the ceiling using fishing line to create a floating chandelier effect. It makes the table so much more visually interesting and really adds height to the tablescape. Jenny, A Fine Flourish wrote out the names of each guest on a clear salad plate to serve as the place card. She’s so talented and I love how her calligraphy adds such a feminine touch to the place setting. And of course it wouldn’t be a C&C party without some sugar! My Dulce Cakes created the beautiful lavender mini cakes and raspberry lemon bars. The tiered naked cakes were one of my favorite details of the whole tablescape.
